about

Ithaca is so many things to so many people. Despite the attempts from city government, gift shops, local institutions, and the teeming ecosystem of musicians, nobody can ever pigeonhole Ithaca. For me, Ithaca is adventure. Ithaca is loving. Ithaca is living and breathing.

This album is my way of memorializing the slice of Ithaca I got to experience- the world of late night Kava Bar meetups, expertly crafted and homemade synth modules, and a proud lineage of beeping, booping, wire-soldering, filter-sweeping, ELECTRIC SOUND.

Ithaca is young and old. The music on this album reaches as far back as 1971 and as recently as yesterday. All the composers on this record have felt that strange draw that comes from the mystique of the Ithaca area (Trumansburg, NY) being the birthplace of the Moog synthesizer. Although the factory is now an Italian restaurant, the pulses and oscillations still ring down through the generations, stirring us all to explore the universe of possibilities, like all good Ithacans do when presented with something wonderful.

Ithaca is Love. I want to thank all the composers and performers who made this album possible, and I want to thank Elijah J. Weber-Han for using his brilliant artistic mind to format the album artwork. You are a solid dude, Elijah. I also want to thank Ithaca Underground, the Ithaca New Music Collective, the Electrozone, and Galactic Monday, for representing the pillars of community that music can truly make. I also want to thank you for reading and listening.
